Catalina Gonzalez – Old Soul, New Voice EP

The amazing Catalina Gonzalez released her debut EP, Old Soul, New Voice on July 23rd and it is amazing. For those of you who, for some reason, don’t already know about Cat and her music: Catalina Gonzalez is a Chilean singer/songwriter who has been putting out both original songs and covers for a while now. Old Soul, New Voice is an all orignal, except one song, seven song EP. (With a little surprise for those of you who download it!) The EP showcases Cats amazing singing voice and her skill on the guitar.

Each song on the EP tells a story and the style varies from song to song. With an upbeat intro track leading straight into the absolutely beautiful and emotional, Proof. After listening to the EP for the fifth time in two days, I honestly can’t figure out why more people don’t know about Cat. You can download the EP below or you can get it here.

Make sure you like Cat’s page on Facebook, follow her on Twitter and subscribe to her YouTube channel to make sure you keep up to date with all the new music.

WZRD-Teleport To Me, Jamie

WZRD (Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius) are a Punk/Alternative group. I posted a track they did a while back called “Brake”. Now like most people I was skeptical, I mean it’s Kid Cudi!! The most laid back guy I can imagine, The Lonely Stoner doing Punk/Alternative? I didn’t think it would work as well as it has, but just give the track a listen. WZRD drops their full album on February 28th and I think I may have to go out and buy it. The song is laid back and chilled out with a definite Cudi vibe to it but it has an alternative element to it too. It’s catchy as hell and it’s deep and meaningful.

From what I get from the song, it’s about Cudi talking about how he is with this girl but he never gets to spend time with her because they both have things to do. “Teleport To Me, Jamie” is a tale of Cudi’s heartbreak at not having the woman he loves with him. It’s a pretty moving song and maybe it’s just me but, I feel like you can feel the emotion in Cudi’s voice. Like I said, this is one album I’m definitely buying.

Skylar Grey-The Buried Sessions Of Skylar Grey

I’m not too sure on the details of this one but from what I can gather, Skylar launched her new EP on Interscope records. The EP is called, “The Buried Sessions Of Skylar Grey” and it features her original demo and a take on Eminem and Rihannas “Love The Way You Lie” and Diddy Dirty Money’s “Coming Home”. All three tracks come in at exactly 1:30 or 1:31 when I refreshed the page…apparently you can buy the set as well? Who’d spend money for a set of songs, and I use the term “set” lightly that in total would add up to the amount of time it takes me to get out of bed in the mornings?

You can find the set after the jump. And sound off in the comments, I’d love to get your opinion on all this. I know and EP is supposed to be short and in essence, a preview, but would you really be tempted to but the actual thing after hearing the collected set in less than five minutes? Continue reading

Bramzwig-Glitter Ain’t Gold

Bramzwig, the guy who gave us the awesome “Doing It Big” and “The Pre Game” is back with another track off his upcoming mixtape “The Roaring Twenty” . This time Bramzwig gives us a slightly slower track and a deeper message behind it. “Glitter Ain’t Gold” is a slow jam that has Bramzwig rapping about his life and how he started rapping. The song is deep but not overly deep.

Rather than give you all a breakdown of the song and let you know what I think, I think i’ll put the track in and let you make your mind up.

To me the song is a nice change of pace and shows that Bram isn’t a one trick artist and he can do deep and chilled as well as fast and furious.

Hit the jump for the track. Continue reading

Dada Life-Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker

Firstly I would like to state that, yes that is in fact Dada Life dressed up as chefs holding bunches of bananas. The music hasn’t gotten to your brain just yet.

Dada Life are a Swedish House/Electronic duo. Well at least that’s what some people call them. To me, Dada Life are destroying genres and bringing Dance music back to its rawest form. The guys don’t make music for the faint hearted, their style is loud and rage filled. Listen to any of the tracks they’ve put out and you can see that these guys do not fuck around.

I first got into Dada Life after I copped a post on Thissongissick of the guys raging banger “Happy Violence”. If you like your music loud, bass filled and something you can instantly rage to then Dada Life are 100% for you. Who knew that two Swedish guys would be so good at making epic house/electro/dance music (Basshunter, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Eric Prydz).

Hit the jump to check out the video for the epic track and also the instrumental version on soundcloud. Continue reading

K-Woody-Break Loose

Two in a row from K-Woody. The up and comer from Massachusetts is doing big things and with his latest track, “Break Loose” Woody gives us a cut off his new mixtape “Living On The Flow”. And he just hit 500 fans on the Facebook page.

Told you this kid was gonna do big things. “Break Loose” is a little different from other songs in the fact that it has no chorus, no hook and just one continuous verse. The song is catchy and the beat features a sample from someone who sounds a lot like James Brown (actually the guy could be James Brown but the beat is a song called “Break Loose” by a guy called Gramatik. Thanks to K-Woody) The beat is sick and I love the way Woody just jumps in without a chorus or hook. The song ends up sounding like you turned it on in the middle of a longer song…if that makes sense. Anyway, Woody makes the beat his own and drops a sweet few verses. Definitely cannot wait to see the mixtape when it comes out and cannot wait to see what this guy does when he gets a little more experience. Dude’s only 18.

Anyway hit the jump to catch the song and the original by Gramatik.  Continue reading

Lupe Fiasco-American Terrorist III

Now normally I’m not a big fan of Lupe. He’s had some good songs and he focuses on the good side of rap and I admire the guy for that but for some reason I have never really connected with him or his music. Anyway Lupe dropped this earlier on from his Twitter. It’s a pretty dope song and is well worth a listen. You can find the song here.

Bramzwig-Doing It Big

Like I said in the last post I get a good few people tweeting me links to heir stuff or their friends stuff. And most of it is alright but nothing special. But then you get some pretty good stuff like Sinotra and a few others. But I recently got a tweet of a dude called Bramzwig and the song he showed me was pretty dope. But today he sent me another link to a track he just released “Doin It Big” and to be honest, I was blown away. Dude has swag  and a sick flow and with the sick beat it just works.

Hit the jump for the old track and the new one.  Continue reading
